I am trying out some new lighting for taking pictures of my paintings. This is my first painting and one of my most recent.

Here is the finished audience participation painting. Thank to all for the input, it was a fun project. I am thinking about some similar projects soon. I will be including the piece in the Atlantic Avenue Artwalk 09 on June 6, 7 at the Flying Saucer Cafe in Brooklyn. The second pic is my probable layout.

Back to business

If this looks familiar, its because I'm making twins. I will send one away to a deserted island to test nature vs. nurture for myself.


The opening of the BWAC show this past weekend went well. Thanks to anyone who might have shown up and looked. After a little break I started working on some paintings again.

Ahh, Midland.

Well, I'm back from a lovely trip to Midland. It was a success. Lots of quality family time, a Loons game, a wonderful evening with the Hansen family, and Vernors on the tridge.

Off to Midland

I will be in Midland for a week so all updates next week will probably involve Vernors, the Tridge, and a cat named LopLop. Here is stage 2 of a new painting.

A small project

This is a little Cornellian box that I made for a set of Duchampian objects given to me by my Aysun when I was living in Michigan and she was in New York.

For those of you who ponied up some ideas, I thank you. For those of you who haven't, for shame (I'm looking in your direction Sig).

Well, the experiment is underway. I will be posting visual updates as I finish elements of the painting.













Here is a list of items to be included at this point.

I welcome more suggestions but at this point think more along the lines of graphic ornament. Shapes, patterns, letters, numbers, squiggles, you get the idea.

I am hoping to do a mad-lib style interactive painting where people choose the imagery for the piece and I paint it. This may take a long time because so far I think only two people have read the blog.

Here's what I envision.
1. The image below is a painting that I began a couple of days ago, showing the progress and the basic process I will be using.
2. I will call on the viewers to give me suggestions, or possibly choose from options as to what should be painted next, i.e. objects, shapes, sayings, numbers, etc.
3. I will paint using the most popular choices.
4. Repeat until the painting is finished.

Please help, it might be fun.

Now I need an object to get this baby underway. (examples: corn, gun, cat, balloon)

After a tiring weekend on Long Island attending a birthday party for a 3 year old, I think I have finally succumb to the will of the R-train consumptives who have spent the better part of the last couple months coughing on me at every opportunity.

On the upside though, I finished a little experiment I was doing using nothing but masking tape stencils to create a painting. It turned out OK, but was pretty time consuming.


I also had a nice tuna melt.

One of these two items may end up in my etsy store.

Life is hard.

My lungs feel dusty and I'm this close (imagine a thumb and forefinger

real close together) to getting and eating in its entirety a Papa
Johns pizza and I bought earplugs in case the upstairs cat is bowling
again tonight.

At least I got some good work done on the clown painting.
